The gooose step grows louder.

The goose step was feared by free Europeans and Russians and such States as Hitlers Nazis neared to conquer them.I  consider the present Government a Government of geese and a gander,so it is no wonder that I  shouild associate them with the goose step.

After hearing on the Radio today that the parents of small children must hold them down in order to get probed for presence of the virus and that they are greatly distressed by this invasion of their bodily integrity there is no doubt but that the jackboots are fast approaching all of us.

The excuse for journalistic investigation that we have today justifiably entitles me to label them in mass "The how high will I  jump brigade of the Government "as that is what they say when a public health doctor or a Government member announces the latest punishment to be inflicted on the citizens.

It is indicative of the peurile journalism we have that the question the journalist pose regarding the hurting of the children by the parents was whether the kids in the queue could be protected from the racket of those being tested by insulating the noise being made by some process..

Similar to being barred from the approach road to abortion clinics,I'D SAY.

Soon those older citizens who refuse voluntarily to get tested will be dragged off protesting and screaming or being jailed for refusing the test.

For some time now I  have been very cynical of the appeal of those in power for  social solidarity in combatting the virus. In effect this is a device to blame all of us for being born and to make us feel guilty if the virus comes into our communities and throw the blame in our direction.

Of course this divertts the blame away from themselves.

They talk of th Meitheal process of long ago and appeal for that in advertisements spoken with flat Offally accents instead of the Anglo accents mostly used by themelves in order to bring us to heel.

I  discussed this with the Emerus Professor of medical ethics and bullshitting at Tullaghanstown  University and he concluded that this talk of Meitheal means that the Medics and Ministers will continue to draw their full salaries and expect the other suckers to pay theose salaries even though they have nada,at the same time encouraging their medical coolleagues to continue to abort the living unborn children of born humans.

They reckon that the more they abort the less  humans they will have to spread the virus.

The same principles will pave the way to isolate the very elderly and push them aside and once accepted will be applied progressively down the age scales.

This is not fanciful .Ask ypourself how many medics have been brought to account over the tsunami of deaths in the nursing homes and ask yourself would you go to one willingly.

Already spectators are barred ,without rational reason, from supporting their Parish teams by attending matches.

This is pushing the boat out to fracture social cohesion .whereupon they can introduce swhatever draconian measures thy want..

It is no coincidence that the Garda Commissioner wants all citizens to inform on their neighbours and that Government spokes people and "how high"journalists  always profess their love of Gaelic Games ,when you know full well that thety never went to a GAA Match in their lives.

These people should remember the atrocities perpetrated behind closed doors in the past, atrocities their medical and political ancestors  failed  to see, even though present all of the time.

Of course aside from physical totrure ,isolation is the greatest mental punishment that can be inflicted on prisoners ,yet these Masters of the Universe inflict it on the old and the sick and the fearful.

They want to destroy Religious practises also without rational.basis.This has to do with supression of potential unrest rather than rational medical practice.

All these things are to break the spirit of the populace so that hope is lost and whatever rules and laws they  want can be introduced ,protecting always the health and wealth of themselves and their families .

Pubs and restaurants are being used as experimental locations and testing grounds for new and oppressive Garda powers to bully and intimidate. If they get away with this in these locations it is only a small step further to see these powers being extended into private homes.

Basically they don't trust the ordinary people and are trying to bully them into line.

It is nothing new that there are many supporters of dictatorship in the country. Why do you think that a few thousand invaders controlled our Country for years.Their decendants live on and adore those at the top.

Instead of bullying and terrifying people the authorities should form a task force comprised of ordinary non political and non professional persons of all age and socio econimic groups and let them determine the fight against the virus.

Chosing of Irish Commissioner is sexist

See my earlier post on how Commissioner would be chosen.I  was right.Gonads shape is new sexist way of E.U,

Down with the trousres and up with the skirts.

Twitter row is not the thing.

I know little about Twitter save it is  used by Donal Trump to communicte with his followers, quite successfully apparently.

An outsider GAA Club man has filled me in on what is going on between Dunderry and Blackhall players .

Seemingly a spat is going on between Dunderry supporters and Blackhall supporters over the result of an Intermediate Football Championship game ,which Dunderry narrowly won.

I  was not at the game because supporters are not allowed attend for no discernable reason.Certainly no evidence has emerged that allowing two hundred into stadia capable of holding 25 thousand spectators has spread coronavirus. And in the North ,where supporters are allowed attend Club matches ,the incidence of corona virus spread is lower than here.

Were I  allowed I  would have written a report on the game and published it.

In this context I  have reported on a previous match between the same teams decrying the name  calling of our players all over the field as "pikies "and the repeated intrusion of their physio staff onto the field in order,it seemed to me, to put our guys off at critical junctures.

I  was careful not to name names. There is bad blood between the teams.

I played a lot of hurling and football and always took the view that unless the Referee rode us or that the opposition played illegal players that when the final whistle blew that was it.

None of us are perfect but I  would advise all parties to let their hurling and football on the field of play do their talking for them..

I know that it is hard to keep quiet when provolked.

How new Irish Commissioner will be chosen.

Probably the most qualified person for the Commissioner vacancy is Simon Coveney. It is obvious why he did not let his name go forward. It is because his gonads are the wrong shspe and he didn't want to risk being humiliated.

The ultimate test for the vacancy will be a hosing down by the head she cat and a sly glance at the gonads of the two Irish candidates ,whereupon the possessor of the vulva will be chosen.

Just why the male candidate let his name go forward for humilation is hard to fanthom.

Death of Tara Sanfey

In 2005 I was manager of the then Senior Football Team in Dunderry.A very good friend of mine Dr.Tony Sanfey was of great assistance and worked for free.

His daughter Tara has died well brefore her time.

On my own behalf,on behalf  of my family,on behalf of all the playersand mentors and of the Club I  offer condolonces to her parents and wider family.

John Armstrong Deceased.

On Tuesday 18th August last John Armstrong shook off this mortal coil.I understand that he was unwell for a while.

By coincidence a photograph of himself,Patsi Coogan and other members of a local showband called the Lumberjacks was in circulation on facebook a short time before his death.

They were all the go around here about 50 years ago and were fairly good.John played guitar and Patsi did vocals.

John was an only child as far as I know and my uncles told me that he was the apple of his mother's eye and that he was sent to piano lessons as a child.,which probably pointed him in the musical directions he subsequently followed.

His father was from either Fermanagh or Tyrone and was a hard working master carpenter  and farmer in Tullaghanstown ,trades which John took up for a period ,before he settled in Dunderry with his wihe Bridget ,who subsequently bore him a daughter Rosemary and two sons Paddy and Ronnie.

I knew them all.

I am told that Paddy was a good juvelnile hurler in his day ,Ronnie I  don't know about.Ronnnie.

This was before I  came to live here.

John drank in Geraghty's whilst he lived here and it was there that I  mostly met him.

He was quick witted .Once when he was thumbing to Navan I  picked him up.Innocently I  asked him what he was at..He took umbrage and after a while he said"I t's like this Daithi.when I 'm not fishing I'm mending my nets".

Unintentionally I  had offended him seemingly.Boy did he put me in my box.

A number of years ago they moved to Navan and rarely appeared hereabouts.

His grandson Kevin  is the spit of him and a decent young  man and hurls with the Club.

To his sons, daughter ,grandchildren ,Kevin and all his friends and relatives we offer our condolonces.

Tribute to Jarlat Folan.

Such is the evolution of the membership of Dunderry GAA Club and indeed the Parish in general that newer residents and members may never have heard of Jarlat ,who lived in Shambo for a considerable time with his family.

I remember him fairly well and he made a significant contribution to the progress of Gaelic games in Dunderry. My memory is that this contribution was in the promotion of Gaelic Football and that for years both himself and I think Pat Jennings, mentored a bunch of good footballer guys who would be now around the forty mark or thereabouts from the time they were young kids until thay were at minor level.

Included in these players were his sons Keith and Richie and  David Jennings and many more players who advanced to play senior for Dunderry.

Keith, although diminutive enough in stature, was built to the ground and with exceptional ball control was as quick as greased lightening around the goal and could strike as quich as an adder and was probably the most opportunistic of  his peers in the scoring stakes.

Richie was maybe not as good but not far behind.

As the apple never falls far from the tree they must have got it from either of their parents ,more likely Jarlat ,whose knowledge of football was of the highest order.

It is an advantage to be born with inherent football skills but these skills must be nurtered and it was there that his mentoring came into play for the benefit of the GAA Club.

I don't know if he played for Pats before he came to live in Shambo but stronglty suspect he did and that he must have been useful enough.

As far as I  can remember players were produced who reached Division 1 in Minor Football undrer the additional guidance of such as Pete Conaty,Jim Harte,Gerry Doherty,Christy Fay,Bomber Farrell,Dessie Fagan ,Calfer Coogan ,Joe Martin.Billy Bligh  maybe and Me Fein.,but at a later stage. No doubt I  have left out someone and will gladly correct this if contacted.

I  have a distinct memory,in the first years that I  was a mentor at Minor level  , of the present Secretary Paddy Darcy  being disappointed that  he was to labour in the second Division of Minor Football for his last year in the grade .

The point is that Jarlat left an indelible mark hereabouts.

He was a sociable guy and I  drank with him and the sons from time to time ,but not too often as Robinstown was his haunt and I  preferred Dunderry.

He was head man in Shambo stud and had a great knowledge of horses.

I  think that Jack Loughran was a prior owner of Shambo farm before Jarlat came around the place. He too has gone to his eternal rest and like Jarlat was a huge lover of the games of the Gaels,

I' m faily sure that Jack was at at Croker on Bloody Sunday when the Black and Tans murdered players and spectators whilst Dublin played Tipperary.

Shambo has been a happy hunting ground for Gaels in Dunderry ,as in addition to Jarlat and Jack we got Tony Brennan and his sons and grandsons and Kevin Slattery into our fold from there.

I  didn't know either his wife Geraldine nor his daughter Julie but think my daughters knew Julie Anne.

We were sorry when he and his family left the Parish and are sorrier that he has departed this life.

We sympathise with all his immedaite family ,far and near ,and all his relatives and friends on his passing.

Vandalisation of Robinstown Church.

Robinstown Church is a small well attended Catholic Church and could be described as quaint,I go there often.

The front of the Church is adorned by a number of lead separeted small glass panel windows which are pleasing to the eye.

There is a small car park in front of the Church to facilitate the parking of vehicles of attendees of the various Church ceremonies.

There are thousands of acres of farmland in the Parish and a very well run GAA Club in Dunderry for youths of all ages.

Recently some youths used the car park as an exercise space for hurling ,it seems and used the windows for target practise..

Thet broke many ,many panes of glass and they had to be replaced at considerable cost to the Parish.

Neither the culprits nor their parents have come forward to admit responsibility nor offer compensation.

This is not good enough and  in plain language is a desecration of a place of God.

It is my guess that the perpetrators neither sttend Services in the Church nor have their parents taught them respect for the House of God nor the feelings of their Catholic neighbours.

N o social solidarity by them.

Hogan's replacement.and gonad politics.

Would Vread have the nerve to put himself forward as a replacement for Hogan, having just sacked him in effect..

Do not be surprised if he does.

Certainly loyalty counts for nothing in the new fine gael. Not that it ever did.

What Hitler could not achieve by force the Germans have achieved by stealth and rule Europe and our boys suck up to this.

All other things being equal ,and it never is,the decisive factor in the appointment of the next Irish Commissioner will be the shape of her gonads.

Imagine the rage that would have arisen had Hitler organised his Administration on THE BASIS OF THE SHAPE OF THE APPLICANTS GONADS.

God help us all and the people who have no actual gonads.

The witch hunt of HOGAN AND OTHERS

In June of this year I  wrote an article on this Government called Goosy,Goosy, Gander, predicting the likely destruction of F.F  and F.G. by the Gander Greens. It was not hard to predict this.

With the hunger of Big Mickie,Vread two nipples and the Gander Ryan for power and a spineless bunch of journalists who merely ask "how high should I jump",when asked by the Government to jump,it is no wonder that trial by mob rule is now the norm in political and journalistic circles in Eire.

Its as simple as this.Big Mickie,Vread two Nipples and the Gander have sold out to the Devil long ago by sanctioning the murder of pre born humans in the State's  Hospitals and the medical profession are also  involved in the murder of the defenceless preborn to boot.

So witch hunting and abandoning due process is of little consequence by comparison.I mean if Satan owns you  already you might as well go the whole hog and destroy the Populace in its entirety.

Make no mistake these people care about no one but themselves and with a kow towing media the sound of the jack boot grows by the second.

By the way the goose population of the pond referred to in the earlier article came to an end when stoats, ferrets ,mink, weasels and foxes who loved the taste of goose flesh killed and ate the gander.

You can easily match the faces of the opposition leaders who joined in the rush to mob rule to these hateful creatures.

And all of these claim to be speaking for the people of Ireland.

You musy be joking.

Yesterday a 90 plus year neighbour of mine ,who cannot wear a mask was verbally abused when he entered a nearby shop to buy necessities.

This is called social cohesion.

The medical profession and the Government have done all thety can to destroy it.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

The next institution they want to take out is the niclear family, especially if it is Christian,

Watch this spece.

O Me of little faith

I  knocked a field of potential hay a week ago.I  reckon that God sends at least a week every year to enable farmers here to make hay. This year would be no different I thought.

But then you have the weather forecasters to contend with.Their predictions were dire each day.Relying on the colour of the Sky each night and praying to my God I turned the hay each day until Thursday and then panicked in the face of the scientists weather reports and baled and wrapped it.

The Sky colour was favourable and my belief in God waned and boy was I  wrong.Today Friday was a grand day and the hay would have wilted and dried enough to avoid wrapping it.

There you go.

J.H.L.Dunderry V Killyon July 2020.

Played in Dunderry on a grand evening on a pristine pitch this game was well contested. The fact that Ted Dowd is managing Killion adds spice to these encounters.
Dunderry fielded as follows.;-
                                            Alan Casey

C.Heffernan                        Tom Doc                     Mickey Brogan

Cathasl Ryan                    Tomas Conroy                  T.J.Loughran

                                      G.Dooley                  Stefan Clarke.

Peter Casey                           Baby Doc                       Eoin Ryan

Conor Brady                       Christy Harrington             Kevin Clynch.

Subs introduced D.O.Laoghaire AND   Kevin Clarke.
.
First let me say that it is great that we are consistently fielding a Junior Hurling team.In my opinion this is mostly due to the effort of Killian Minogue AND I  take my hat off to him.
Secondly I  must acknomledge the input of the Irish speaking area of our Parish  Lambay into the fielding and management of our football and hurling teams at all levels .
Fair dues.

Back to the game.

It was well contested and played in the right spirit .Both teams were skilled and fair and the competition was keen.No dirt.
Loughran is one for the future.Must be the Kiltale blood.I  jest.
But the outstanding scorer for us was Baby Doc,who landed four of our first half points ,the others coming from Harry and the Ryan brothers. One point I COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE SCORER.It is hard with helmets
Half time score.Dunderry 0 9. Killyon 1-6.

The second half continued as the first finished, both sides getting dtuck in,the referee doing a reasonable job and his wife likewise.N o controversy today.
We added o0-7 in the second half,Bob scoriing 0-5,Tomas 0-1 and i missed one score.
Killyon added 2-8 ,I  think to win by
3-19 to 0-17,according to the Ref.
A decent game and the margin does not do us justice. We were closer in skill and effort.

Dunderry v Kilmainham .I.F.C OI/08/2Q20

Played at 4.00 p.m .in a pristine John Newman Park this match was  much anticipated as it was the first that was  played by us under the corona restrictions, which in my mind are pure nonsense as they apply to sport attendances.
There was enough open space to accomodate several hundred more spectators even giving them a full two metres space inter se.
But back to the business on hand.
Like many attendees I  was hungry for action and I  was not disappointed as a display of all that is good in the game was served up by two teams of equal ability and competitiveness ,It was a pity that there had to be a loser.

                                              Dunderry
                                         Sean Brennan

Davy  Mc Cormack                  Conor Dempsey                         Aaron Newman

Conor O Shea                           Ronan Brady                              Mark  Kane

                                   Bomber Farrell                    Morgan Callaghan

Dermot Kelly                            Lukie Martyn                                Andy Coogan

Gooch Daly                               Simon  Carty                                Stephen Coogan.

Within three minutes Michael Newman from Kil.showed just why he is a county player by rattling the Dunderry net and sending over a point to boot.Greart start for them. And they posted another point via ,I  think, a guy called Morgan ,who is one for the future and pooceeded to torment us for the rrest of the hour.
But we rallied and scored the next three  points ,courtesy of Stephen Coogan, two from frees and one from play. How we missed him last year in both codes. He is to us what Newman is to the opposition.
A knacky and classy period of footbal followed as Bomber -a point ,Simon -a point ,and Stephen Coogan -3 points ,two frees .kept us in touch..Kil .continued to play good football by registering four furter points with Newman and Morgan being the persecutors in chief.
At half time the score was Dunderry 0-8  AND kIL.1-6.
Whatever wind was in it was in Kil.s favour in the first half and it really was an exhibition of free flowin good football with everybody giving their all.
On the resumption Lukie complimented his fine exhibition of all round play by scoring a minor ,but Morgan ,I  think put the cat among the pigeons with successive scores of a goal and a point.and a pointed free.
Our lads did not give up and Bomber scored a minor and Stephen Coogan scored a brace of points, one a free to give us impetus.
Jordan Martin came on for Gooch and registered a point to bring us closer ,but Newman scored a magnificienrt free to edge them further ahead.Coogan score two more frees to their their two and we were beat on the scrore of 2-11 to 0-15.
Adam Kelly and I  think Conor Leavy were introduced late on.
This was a game for the ages dominated scorewise by Newman and Stephen Coogan  in the scoring stakes.
Newman and Morgan were our main persecutors, but all our guys can hold their heard up high.
Dermot Kelly had probably his most impressive game for the Club to date , but as I  said all played their socks off.
The match could have gone either way.
From now on the route we must take is a knock out one ,with four teams only in the group and only one going forward ,as far as I  know.
David Jennings, probably the best non capped goalie in Meath, did not figure in goals yesterday .He owes nothing to the Club.
His successor Sean Brennan has big boots to fill and will soon be the Meath Senior Keeper I  predict.
Davy Mac is the sole survivor of the 2005 Senior Team I  managed. And brought down to Intermediate..

Tommy Dowd,Barry Callaghan,Con O  Neill ,Stephen O  Rourke,Kevin Dowd and now Davy  Callaghan have /are trying to get back up.
Davy faces a mammoth task but the spirit is top class.
The unavailability of Paddy Kenneally -broken arm - and Liam  Dempsey and Oisin Martyn -- study ---will make an already hard task Herculean ,but there is justification for hope on yesterday's pewrformance.
Hoping for the best.

Gander has screwed geese.

I did an article some time ago on the formation of the coalition called"Goosy ,goosy Gander".
It has proved prophetic in that the Green Gander has seperately screwed the FF and FG.geese by forcing the resignation of Cowan in Offally and defeating the nomination of O Dowd for Leas Ceann Comhairle.
It is now the position that one Green T.D. is worth several other Coalition T.D.s.
Politically big Mickie is a dead man walking and the Earl of Enniskerry can notch another victim in his bedpost for the capital offence of ating a dinner and having two pints and driving in rural Ireland.
Ankers all.

Another 86 year old Dunderrian beats the Virus.

Ned Howley ,one of the men who, along with his late wife Mary, put Dunderry hurling on the map and whose sons Neddie,Noel and Ollie gave exempmary service to Dunderry GAA over the decades has,I am delighted to report ,recovered from the Virus.
I  am delighted for him and his family.Fair dues.

Tribute to Tommy Farrelly deceased.

They say that a week is a long time in politics.Whatever about the truth in that it surely is in the death and burial of ordinary and extraordinary people, which Tommy surely was.
Last Sunday after Mass I  spoke to James Brady and Oliver Carty about the health of Tommy Farrelly. For those who don't know James was the very best friend of Tommy in his illness and constantly available to do whatever it was Tommy wanted.
It is stated that a friend inded is there when you are in need. And James was that friend in spades. His mother and mine were first cousins.
James told me that Tommy would be getting radium treatmenr during the week in Dublin, that he was not allowed to carry him up and that a taxi would be sent for him each day.
Well Monday went according to plan.On Tuesday he didn't want to go and it was only on James' coaxing that Tuesday would be his last day that he reluctantly went.
He came home later and his brother Seamus and his wife Mary made him tay and such like in his house and returned to their own house alongside his satisfied that he was o.k.
A few hours later Father Brendan Madden ,a good Dub.and a Dunderry resident, popular with all here who know him ,called to see him..He was minutes late.Tommy had died in his armchair ,no distress.
Was his reluctance to go to Dublin that day the result of a premonition of some sort.We will never know in this life.
I  last saw Tommy a few months ago when he was supervising the construction of the Bench to honour Eugene Smyth ,the late Lord Mayor of Dunderry.Tommy was his wing man in the early eighties when he and Marie Dowd ran fund raising events to raise money to pay for the GAA PITCH.
Against such influential opponents as Michael Callaghan,Pat Smith and the Darcy Clan they raised thousands and handed it over and thus garnered Eugene the right to call himself Lord Mayor.
There was something unsaid for decades between Eugene and the GAA Club and Eugene would never let me know what was at the root of it.
I questioned Tommy about it after Eugene died and came to understand Eugene's silence on the issue. And this was it.
When the GAA Pitch was opened in 1988 ,an event I  attended with my uncles Joe and Tommy Mc Cormack, all the people who helped to put it there were invited well in advance ,except Eugene Smyth.
I t was only the night brfore the opening ,when a final meeting was called to discuss strategy that  the question was raised was anything overlooked.
Tommy spouted up "that ye forgot to invite the man who made all this possible .Eugene Smyth"and the penny dropped.
Eugene was invited after Mass the next day a Sunday for the opening a few hours later.
In fact he had planned to leave  his son Mickie to Dublin Airport to emigrate to England that Sunday and had to make alternative arrangements at short notice.
It is easy to understand just why Eugen and indeed Tommy were miffed at this oversight,a feeling they carried afterwards for life.
Tommy was the third child of his mother Rose Rattigan and his father, Tommy also. His older brother Seamus and Seamus's wife Mary and their kids did all humanely possible to make his life bearable in his final months and indeed for as long as he was sick.
AS did his sister Nancy ,her husmand Seamus Farnnan.and their 7 kids,6 boys and 1 girl ,Nancy and her husnband Seamus being practically daily callers.
Tommy was well loked after and well loved, gruff and all as he could be.
His mother Rosie and his uncle Pat lived next door to my mother's people the Mc Cormacks in THE Curragh Boreen.
I came on holidays to the Mc Cormacks from about 1955 and have a continuous presence here since then.
I knew and loved Pat Rattigan,Tommy's uncle , as though he was one of my own.
Himself and the Mc Cormacks were inseperable friends.A day never passed  without Pat calling to Mc Cormacks, save the last two days of his existence in the early 1980's when he wasn't seen for two days.He was dead in bed and at the Mc Cormacks note of his non appearance the Gardai were called out and the house broken into.
At the time there were reports of break ins to the homes of elderly people and Pat was found with a shotgun in the bed for fear of robbery. The gun was not  discharged .Pat died in his sleep .
As a matter of historical fact a neck purse which Pat wore around his neck and which was known to contain a considerable wad was never found
ANOTHER OF LIFE'S MYSTERIES.
Pat Rattigan  was a man of huge strenght and the best man to tell a white lie.His great loves were Football and Hurling ,Horse racing and shooting, his land housing the run for the raising of pheasants for the gunclub.
The kitchen of his two roomed house was covered in newspaper clippings od GAA people and horses and jockeys.
Johnny Fucking Roe was his favourite Irish jockey and Lester Pigott his favourite English one .
He built his house about 1961 and skied the recently made stilts of myself and my brother Robert to make the window sills.
We got revenge by using his prized geraniums as  target practice  for a pellet gun a fact that didn't become apparent until the stems split several ways with further growth.
"You see you tuesdays "he would roar at us "ye destroyed me Geraniums.
The reason I mention Pat Rattigan at all is because ,a bachelor,he was hugely proud of all of Rosie's kids ,especially Tommy to whom he left the place in his will.
There is also the indisputable that Tommy was the spit of Pat in appearance and mannerism.
Both used colourful language,.both walked with the same gait, both told white lies and both were bachelors.
Both were hard workers,Pat being one of the first around to secure a job in the building of the China Mission at Garlow Cross So many people died at the building of this place that it became known as the "White Man's grave and Tommy being described to me as former employer Eamonn Kane as a superb worker.
Tommy had a great interest in his forebearers, especially his mother's people.
At one stage four old women from the Curragh  Boreen survived,my mother ,Molly Mc Cormack my aunt, his mother Rosie and Mainin Herbert.Even though they lived close ,with the exception of my mother, they wouldn't have met in decades.
He wanted my mother and Molly to meet up for one last time.
I  worked on it and ewventually brought Molly over after a 7.30  Saturday Mass  to Farrelly's  Now these women were well in their seventies then and I  watched gobsmacked as Molly said "Well gersa ,how have you been this forty years. And so it went.
Umfortunatelt death took my mother and Rosie before they could meet.I  don't know about Mainin Herbert.,but she lived to a great age.
Tommy had too much time to think about the hereafter..
Tommy M c  Cormack did not have much time.
A room in his house had to be converted into a simile of a hospital ward to enable his dignified death at home.IT  still brings tears to my eyes to look back on how all the neighbours turned up and did the job without recompense and to such marvelllous effect in days.
Tommy painted like a demon and used his furniture contacts to get a hospital bed .
I  will never forget his kindness.
Around Dunderry you are no one without a nickname.Tommy walked like a cowboy ready to draw his pistols from his holsters ,if you can visualise that,.He was called the black crow ,before he got grey and then the grey crow. When he injured a leg he was called the injured crow. But never to his face.
He was a sociable man and loved a pint and his fagsMany's the pint and smoke I  had with him of yore.He was an honest man and manly. You would know how you stood with him..If he didn't like you he would just not talk to you..If he did like you he would talk to you in as colourful a language as you could imagine.
His Olympian super chastisement was "well wheelbarrow fuck you".Bate that if you can.
One of my sons Evan lives on the Curragh Boreen..His wife Aoife ,a runner in from Navan, had a set routine for driving to Dunderry and carried Tommy a few times. As he got into her routine he used arrive at the head of the Boreen as she drove bye.She always stopped and carried him .Maybe hundreds of times,,She reckons he was a perfect gentleman.I  agree.
Tommy was not a mean man.If anything he was too trustifull and to my certain knowledge was taken
advantage of a couple times."BAD CESS TO THEM" AS HIS UNCLE PAT WOULD SAY.
Tommy was a great man to attend funerals and never missed the digging of a neighbour's grave.
The sight of loads of people forming a mannerly and socially distant queue ,timed so that only two people at a time could evacuate his grave, one in thre grave throwing the soil up to the top and another two metres away throwing the soil into a suitable heap ,would have pleased him as would the socially seperated mourners who lined the route to the graveyayd ,where he was interred beside his uncle Pat .
To his gear brother Seamus ,who I would say kept a  benevolent eye on Tommy during his 69 years on this earth.Seamus.' wife Mary who was caring itself, his Sister Nancy ,his nieces, nephews and wide circle of friends and great neighbours I  offer the condlonces of myself and my family.

That St.James documentary.

The RTE Documentary on the workings of the ICU in St.James Hospital made for riveting viewing .One of my nieces, Kate Stephens ,is a staff nurse there and figured prominently.I am extremely proud of her and indeed all of my immediate and more remote family members who place their health daily on the line, wherther as mid wives, general nurses, public health nurses, phtciatric nurses or other health assistant employees.
There is no doubt but that you must have a special vocation to be a nurse ,more especially to work in the ICU where I  imagine hard cases are the norm.
Such was and is the case displayed in the documentary.
In particular I  was hugely impressed with the way the nurses spoke to the recently deceased patients and afforded them the dignity they deserved.
What I drew from the programme was the depth of compassion and hope displayed by all concerned in the care of the sick.
I have long since regarded Ryan Tubridy as having a want of some description and normally don't listen to a guy who has far too much too much nonsense to spout and  I regard as suspect the opinion of any man who cannot keep his family together,as our Ry\ano cannot so do.
So therefor I  regard as utterly contemptible his labelling of the documentary as a "horror show".I t so was not but a beacon of hope in a grim landscape and a testament to those who labour at the coalface in pursuit of healing.
Ryano used the programme to batter the aviation and tourist trade ,which in my view missed the whole point ..

Dunderry Blessing of Graves 2020

The graves of all the graveyards in the Parish were blessed by Father Hornick two weeks ago, without people being present. This was in accordance with Public Health advice on the matter.

Dunderry connection to famous photo.

One of the most iconic photographs ever taken is that of a line of steel workers ating their lunch on a giant rsj bar dandling from a crane above a  New York skyscraper in the early 20th.century.
The man sitting of the exteme left of the bar is a  relative of Mick Glynn from from Easkaroon.
Like most of his family he emigrated from Galway for work.
He is the spit of Bertie Glynn as far as I  can see.

Cancer rampant in Dunderry Parish

Bad and all as the corona virus  is you have a fair chance of  recovery, but this cancer thing on the other hand is a curse and although not catching it  has a good few in its grip in the Parish.
Let us pray that they beat it and that the treatment is a success.

Death of Eithne Dowd's sister Nancy.

Eithnee Dowd and indeed the whole family are good friends and neighbours of ours.Pre lockdown she called here daily and we had the banter and the craic.
A lovely woman and a stunner now and in her youth, she and her Carnaross family were raised well in tough times.
I have seen photographs of Eithne and her sister Nancy in their youth. If Eithne was an All StarI in thre good looks stakes  -her son Tommy was several times in football -then Nancy was an All Moon.
Eithne ofter spoke emotionally of her sister's condition and how Alzheimers had blighted her life and of the excellent care she was receiving in Virginia  Care Centre.
Eithne is a member of  the  large ,well reared and respected Cambell family from  Carnaross and is  herself  a straight talking  and well respected member of the Dunderry Parish and a Gael of renoun.
I  know that the death of her beloved sister Nancy Tynan ,from Oldcastle is breaking her heart as indeed it is the rest of her siblings ,children ,grandchildren,in laws and many friends.
A more complete description of her death and funeral arrangements is at R.I.P MEATH .
In these Virus days she was buried today ,a day after her death in Oldcasstle.

Elders Out of sight and out of mind.

The most hated man in rural Ireland is,in my view Shane Ross. This is because he had reduced Rural Ireland to a ghost status by tinkering with the drink driving rules to the extent that if caught driving with even one drink you would be put you off the roads and left  high and dry, without a vehicle , with no public transport to bring you anywhere. He himself had a Minesterial car with a driver and unlimited public transport at his fingertips.
Long before the Corona  Virus struck down so many people and well before self isolation became the thing the elderly in rural Ie reland suffered severe social isolation because of his laws as endorsed by the members of the Government of which he was a part.
Luckily he was voted out of office by his constituents but even yet he is still spewing poison on rural folk, especially the elderly.
Not satisfied with forcing  the elderly to cut themselves off from the rest of the population in their homes ,denying them the presence of family as they die in State run homes and hospitals denying them the right to attend Mass, denying them the right to proper funerals and treating them as outcasts by letting disproportionate numbers die in Nursing Homes. They now seek to further humiliate them by forcing them to cover their faces on Public Transport and if they go shopping and try to exercise about the only human right they still possess.
Yep the Government are bent on forcing the elderly out of sight and out of mind and breaking their spirit  entirely.
No such concerns for Leo and his man.He  thinks  it great to lease a mansion for E.50.00 a  day and show off his nipples to all and sundry in his new back garden of the Phoenix Park.
No doubt the Bollix Ross and his mates will succeed in running the elderly from all sorts of Public Transport and from the Supermarkets and driving them into despair.
Better still from their point of vew they can drive them into Nursing Homes and hasten their undignified deaths and wash their hands of blame ,because believe you the blame parcel will be passed from Leo to Simo if and when and if an enquiry into the disroportionate deaths is undertaken, if it ever is.
And of course by cutting down on the use of Public transport they will save on the free travel and drive the elderly off the servives, freeing them up for the more deserving.
I  hear that the next proposal for the elderly is to give everyone over 60 a free jute bag,
They can put this over their heads at all times, even at home ,for fear that thee medical personnell who now run the Country ,have to even look at them and maybe rediscover that they once had a conscience and rediscover that they are entitled to be treated as more than laboratory rats.
But I  am not holding my breath, which may be disappointing to some.
I  believe that the jute bags will be accompanied by a needle and silk thread so that as death becons the elderly can sow rhemselves into the sacks and be ready for immediate burial with causing much fuss to Shane and his cronies.
Now IT IS CLEAR TO ME WHY THEY WANTED TO MURDER THE LIVING UNBORN.
THE ELDERLY ARE NEXT IN LINE.
Enough is enough.Call stop before it is too late.

Taking the knee and looting and burning and desecrating statutes.

Slavery was wrong. We Irish were slaves for the guts of a Millenium.
I' d guess that the Penal Laws were as brutal a regime as any laws operasted by the slavers.
Now it is wrong to loot and burn things down .
Just as it is wrong to kill someone deliberately whilst arresting him ,black ,white or of any race.
It is wrong to persecute anybody because of their colour or race.
It is wrong to shoot policeman or women ,who are trying to protect the peace and law and order.
Without them just who would protect us.
These protestors would want to take care that the American Police and the Police forces of other countries don't say "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH" and leave their posts in droves,
I 'd say Pelosi and Binden would scare the shite out of determined criminals.Yeah right.
People are lining up to smuggle themselves into the United Kingdom and the United States but some of those there already are looting ,burning ,breaking social distancing and pulling down Statues of brave people like Churchill ,who saved Europe from Armageddon.
And the Mayor of London cannot bring himself to find any of these actions repugnant.
As most of the Africans  sent into slavery were initally captured by other Africans and sold onwards for reward it seems to me that those African States who involved themselves in this trade ought to be subjected to the "knee"et all and most of the blame laid where it properly belongs.
In this Country where the Drug barrons rule supremely if the Police are targetted any more by protestors the Barons will rejoice and just who do you go to for protection.
We all know someone destroyed by these scum dealers.
People living in Ireland should be on their knees thanking God that they live here instead of sneering and whinging at  us.

DERMOT MARTIN EVENTUALLY SEES THE LIGHT.

I am disgusted at the above Archbishop/s decision to sell St.Vincent's grounds to the State so that abortions can be performed there and their remains sluiced down the drains.
This,in my view is the same as selling ground to the Nazis to build concentration camps to murder the Jews et al.
During the Corona pandemic he has been far too quiet in standing up for his Flock and stood idly bye as the Churches have been renderecd off side without reason.
Many ,many Churches have been entirely devoid of the Sacraments ,despite the fact that there are are acres of  space abvailable to hold Masses whilst entirely accomodating social distances. The same with funerals,Holy Communions,Confirmations and weddings.
His silence has been deafening on the effect of the pandemic on th lives of the elderly residents of nursing homes and why so many residens have been allowed die therein.
He has eventually broken his silence on the limiting to 50 of participants in Churches for the Sacraments. Not brfore the time.
Unlike his townie Joe Duffy ,who puts down Catholocism every chance he gets and the National Station ,who have run every Priest they can from the the airwaves,he has remained silent and left his Flock rudderless.
He surely must know that Varadakar lectured God's man on earth about how to do his job and that the Zappone one tried to hustle money from the Pope in as arrogant a display of ignorance and bad manners as ever a Minister stooped to ,on his visit here.
She should maybe return to the States and make restitution to the tribes there for the genocide heaped on them by the ruling elite back in the day, before lecturing us the bad behaviour of some of ours.
These people do not give a fiddlers fuck about Religion  AND  are delighted to publicise this and treat us like shite.
Just what does he expect from such people and a bunch of medics who regard any God as way below them in the general scheme odf things.
Go for it Archbishop.

Goosy,Goosy ,Gander.

Fianna Fail and Fine Gael are often sneeringly referred to as Tweedledum and Tweedledee, such is the apparent little difference in policy terms between them as political parties .
This is grossly unfair to both, but the recent confidence and supply agreement operated by both prior to the 2020 General Election seems to strengthen this illusion and was probably a huge mistake for Fianna Fail under Michael Martin to agree to and support.
It was also a betrayal by him to facilitate the legal murder of the living unborn  by his actions in undermining his Deputies who mostly oposed it.
He weakened his Party and lost hundreds of thousands of supporters in my opinion.
Fine Gael on the other hand have strenghtened their support by being red hot supporters of abortion ,which in my view is sinful to say the least.

The founders of both parties, breakaways from Sinn Fein in the 1920's ,were brave men and women, who in the War of Independence took on the might of the British Empire and secured self goverence for 26 counties at least.
Thus the germs of the Civil War where the Free Staters ,led by Michael Collins morphed into Fine Gael and those who wanted the whole 32 counties morphed into Fianna Fail led by Eamonn De Velera were sown.
De Velera is head and shoulders above all others as the one true Statesman who has emerged in Ireland to date.
These were brave people and it is wrong to mock them and some of their families still feel deeply the   wrongful masacres suffered by their ancestors.
Because of theie support for abortion I  can sadly no longer support either Party ,nor indeed Sinn Fein,Labour ,the Social Democrats, the Greens  nor any of the other fringe  left leading Parties whose Social and moral principles are abhorrent to me.
This is probably no concern to them anyhow as they would regard me as a liabiliry ,that is if they have any regard me at all and indeed don't care if they make me feel a stranger in my own Country.
Now to this proposed merger of Fianna Fail,Fine Gael and the Greens.
That both the Fianna and Fine Gael have agreed to share power surely earns them the right to be called Tweedledum and Tweedldee or alternatively Goosy ,Goosy.
The Gander comes into it as a consequence of a descriptive comment by a friend of a guy with a long and tough neck as having a "Ganderry auld neck",which perfectly described him and there are a few of them in the Greens.
And they have some necks.Mostly rooted in surburban  AND SNOBBY IELAND AND FAR BETTER OFF THAN MOST ,they  are poised to wreak havock on rural Ireland and turn it into an eco retreat for their supporters to roam and expect the locals, whoever remain, to kow tow to them in gratitude.
I am reminded of what I  witnessed myself some years ago.
My aunt had two female geese. They were contraty so she got a gander to placate them.
They shared a pond about three feet deep. They fell in love.
The gander took on goose number one sexually. He saw to her by mounting her underwater and screwed her into the muck at the bottom of the pool, where she got stuck and drowned.I could not stop him.
Similarly with goose number two.
Fine Gael and Fianna Fail members ,beware of the gander.
O Cuiv is right.

Dunderry and the Virus.

A grandson of mine who is about 4 had explained to him that when you blow away the propellers on a Dandellion you can make a wish.
The very next moment as he blew away the propellers he was heard to wish"I wish that the virus would go away".
Recently I  congratulated Tom Feeney on returning home after beating the virus at 86 years of age, long before the other  media organs made a song and dance about it.
Fair play to them, written and radio, for their lazy journalism.
It is now a fact that others of similar vintage in the Parish have tested positive for the virus.
This has happened to people who live in as remote an area as exists in rural Ireland and to people who go literally no where outside their immediate environs.
One thing they seem to have in common is that they have visited  hospital for other conditions.
This leads me to the suspicion that like MRSA ,they may have picked up the virus in their visits there.
This may explain why ordinary people are loath to go to hospitals for non virus complaints.
It is time the authorities came clean on this issue.
By the way I  don't believe a word that comes out of the mouths of the Chinese on this issue. It is strange that SARS too eminated there.
What is going on there and is every Government save the Yanks afraid to speak out .
Trump of course is derided by the useless pinkos who dominate oir written, oral and medical fields.
It is high time that these medical experts ,many of whom delight in the continuing murder of the living unborn, stopped spoofing and addressed the core issue by producing a cure.
This blog will make as big a fuss of each and every Parishioner who beats the virus as it did of Tom Feeney  and we hope that all have as good an outcome.
That a four year old should be so distressed is in itself distressing and the continuing bad news being broadcast each minute and  hour should be more balanced.

Dunderry 0-1 Corona Virus 0-0

In these days when the welcome message to Hell is all pervasive viz"Abandon Hope alll ye who enter here"and the long jaws of the all knowing medics and even more knowing longer jaws of depressive politicans and servile commentators dominate the airwaves ,it is delightful to be able to report a good news story from Dunderry.
The news is that Tom Feeney ,who is 86 years old and has been ill for some time ,has taken on and beaten the virus and has been lert out of hospital today.
The Drumbeat has known for some time that Tom had the virus but at the request of his family had decided not to publish it.
Now that he has beaten the virus I  am delighted to publish this good news story regarding the scion of a family who have not had much good luck prior to the present.
Good man Tom.

A cat's nature breaks through its eyes.

I think that the above is the literal translation of "Briseann an naidur thi suil an cait."In other words you can't but act in accordance with your nature.
This phrase struck me as being the most appropriate one to use in connection with the obnoxious reaction of the man in charge of the Gardai ,I think his name is Harris,in connection with the enactment of the most draconian legislation ever imposed on any population in any democracy everywhere to stymie the corona virus from spreading in this country.
To put things in perspective ,the successful fight against the spread of the virus is entirely dependant on social cohension and social solidarity ,which in my experience is there in spades.
Now this gobshite advises that neighbour should inform on neighbour and turn informer on suspected cases of breach of the rules we all abide by.
We already hear on Liveline and other media outlines that people are forming queues to inform on their neighbours greatly encouraged by "Joe WASH YOUR MOUTH "DUFFY  and  that gobshite from Cork who works in the Independent and has a Radio presence to belittle those with holiday homes and evcourage the natives to turn against the "runner ins".
How long before someone of the "runner ins"is attacked by the natives and harmed.
This narrative is encouraged by Harris ,who has decreed that if you are in a Holiday home that this is your household. The way passions are being enflamed it is not difficult to see native shopkeepers refusing to serve the "runner ins".
Does he aim to starve them out, just 150 years after the Famine?
There again he MIGHT  not have any empathy for Catholic Ireland coming as he does from the PSNI ,so renamed  because its predeccessor The Royal Ulster Constabulatory was so hated by Nationalists because of  their discriminatoty treatment of Catholics vis a vis Protestants.
The bane of Irish Nationalism over the centuties were informers and it is certain that Harris has experience of this.
That he should use the fight against the CORONA threatens the social solidarity needed to stave it off and the fact that he should use such a move to recruit informers is disgusting in my view.
I  say this as the father of a working mid wife the brother of a District nurse working in the community in Dublin, the uncle of  NURSING SISTERS ,some in ICU  departments and nurses in Dublin and the cousin of care workers in England who put their health on the line daily .
I know that Flanagan the former Justice Minster wanted to honour the R.I.C.,as bitter an enemy as the indigenous Irish ever head ,who for example evicted Starving tenants from their homes in Famine times but to use this Pandemic to recruit informers is a step too far and is indecent.
I could never understand why not even one of our own Policemen or women were not deened worthy to get the job of Police Commissioner ,nor indeed why it was necessary to give the top job in RTE to an Englishwoman.
Maybe our Politcos do not trust their own people.Go figure.

Death of Teresa Brady nee Larkin.

On the Dunderry road towards Robinstown there are a few houses on the right hand side.In one of these live Paddy Cahill ,his wife and their two children. Her maiden name is Delourdes Brady and her motheR was Teresa Brady. Her maiden name in turn  was Teresa Larkin. She was one of a large family reared on the Shellerin Road ,which joins Mulhuddart with Clonsilla.
She was reared there in a time when pheasants were more common there than people and I lived there for a while  too.A time when a bus ran from Mulhuddart to Blanchardstown each Sunday at 9.00 a.m for weekly Mass.
I often got it and I am sure that the Larkins did too.
One of her brothers is Anthony Larkin who played football with me with St.Brigids when he was a juvenile. He and I  often fished for trout in the Tolka as kids and caught our share.
Teresa married John Brady from Dunboyne and they in turn had a large family.I  remember John too.
In recent years Teresa bought a a home Kilmainham Wood and began spending the odd weekend with the Cahills in Dunderryand when staying over would attend Dunderry Mass.
It was here that I  first met her some years ago and we would exchange greetings and reminisce about the time of yore on the Shillerin Road .I  Christened her "Shillerin ",a much more descriptive name than the Blakestown Road..
She was a lovely and friendly woman and droopped dead suddenly.
The Dunderry family ,father, mother and kids are lovely and private people .
I  offer them the full sympathy of the Stephens family.
In these strained times the funeral is confined to immediate family.

Death of Jimmy Trainor.

Nearly everybody in Dunderry knew the above neighbour as Jimmy Cricket. How this came to be I don't know.
What I know about him is stuff I  gathered over the years and may be or may not be accurate.
He was born in Lismullen I  think and spent some time in the Irish Army.
He worked for years at the shed eraction business with Conatys and latterly as a taxi driver for a short period as far as I  could see.
He gave me a hand now and again on the farm decades ago and was a hard worker.
In latter years he worked voluntarily in beautifying the Village and its environs as a vital cog in the Tidy Tomns committee, a job he excelled at and which he devoted much time.
He lived in Father Flood Park with his partner Sandra and children Wayne and Lisa, all of whom I  know well.
Wayne is the same age as my youngest son David and Wayne spent many Saturdays and Holidays helping me in the farm .
He was lucky enough to ate at the table of Molly Mc Cormack ,my aunt and experience her sirlion with gravy and spuds ,which were to die for.
I  actually believe that he ,as well as others came with me to the farm in the hope of experiencing this culinary treat,
Certainly I  too loved it entirely.
Like Cricket he was a hard worker and mannerly to boot.
Lisa played comogie from a young age and when she moved to Baconstown teritory transferred there .
She is a girl of the highest character and a well respected worker in Aldi I  believe.
Wayne is the father of Dillon and he tooo resides in the family home in Dunderry. He is a decent kid and respectful to me any time I  meet him.
For a time the mother of Dillon lived in the Dunderry house.
While she lived there she played Camogie and I  had the honour of coaching her .She is sound .
Cricket was a quiet and respectful man and I  met him a few days before he died.
He looked fine and we exchanged greetings.
I  know that he had a previous relationship in Drogheda ,I  believe and that a son of his from that relationship died in recent years as a young adult.
He too lived in Dunderry for a time..
I  can confirm that Jimmy fell down the stairs and died as a result.
In these strained times only his immediate family is allowed attend his funeral.
To all his kin I  offer the sympathy of the Stephens family.

What a gobshite.

This week I saw the Today Show on RTE 1.I actually saw the same Show twice. You know the Show hosted by Daithi and Maura Derrane.
Well it featured Billy Keane ,as gormless a gobshite as ever wrecked a show.
Probably notable for being the son of John B Keane but devoid of any talent whatsoever.
I  have written previously of the vicious anti Catholic stance of RTE in general and of how they delibererately destroyed the recent Papal visit by featuring in the run up to the visit and during it that vile guy who heads Amnesty more so than the Pope himself. And rejoicing in Leo  Varadakar's lecturing to God's man on earth on how to run his Church.
There are those of us who ask "Just what did Europe do to anger God so much that He allowed Covid 9 to strike us down ".
Leo was in the vanguard of promoting the murder of the living unborn thus eroding the respect for human life. And it does not surprise me  that the Health Bord is concurrently adsvertising its abortion servives as we face the greatest pandemic in my life time.
How ABOUT some cop on and decency.
This disrespect for human life can be best seen in Spain where staff ababdoned frail elders in nursing homes to their fate and let them die unaided.
No wonder God is annoyed.
Well Billy the Bolix sneered as long as he could at the devotion certain practising Catholics have to certain Saints in the full knowledge that many people have the Faith and are praying to God for a cure.
Totally insulting and sneering and the encouragement of his County man Daithi was disgusting.
Another 'anker.
Leo and Billy et all should remenmber that "Man proposes and God disposes.""
Seemingly over 62 million children were aborted sinc Roe V  Wade in the USA and  I have promoted the Judges who made this decision to prime spot in the list of monsters who have lived since Adam was a gasun ,away above Hitler who killed a mere  million.,including  the unborn of course.

Monday, March 16, 2020

What a hypocrite.

In commenting on some aspect of the fight against the virus I  recently heard Simon Harris, the interim Minister for Health decry certain behaviour as being perpetrated by people who "had no cop on and lacked decency|"
I f ever there was a politician who lacked cop on and decency it was himself and the interim Taoiseach ,who in times of econimic prosperity created the scandals of record numbers of people lying on trollies and endless waiting lists for all peoples especially the elderly who were treated with contempt.
Their failure to produce an adequate Health service for our citizens will contribute to many deaths ,especially of the old and infirm,in respect of whom many are talking of triaging them.
In plain speaking this means letting them die because they are too old and infirm and concentrating on saving the younger and fitter.
That this should be so is no surprise to me.
This Government mostly jumped for joy ,when they managed to legalise the murder of living unborn and unprotected human babies.
"TRIAGING"  elderly  frail humans is but a small step further in the evolving  contempt for frail life of those who are inconvienent to sustain.
Meanwhile the murder of the living unborn continues apace at every Maternity hospital of signifance in the Country.
Those medics whose hands are smothered in the blood of these murderd infants should be put in a research lab and charged with finding a cure for  this virus. That is save life instead of killing it.
At the end of every week a random one should be selected and shot.
It would concentrate their minds and do unto them what they do unto others.

Dunderry GAA Club do the right thing.

Flanagans grocery shop in the centre of Dunderry is one of the few village shops which survive and provide a vital service in rural Ireland. It has always sponsored the local GAAClub. For example it paid for the wrought iron gates that front the pitch and premises amongst other things.
There are manyy people in this tight knit Parish who shop there.
Now that the corona virus scare is upon us the GAA Club is both paying Flanagans back somewhat and supporting those Parishioners who supported both Flanagans and The Club over the years.
The members will deliver free of charge whatever groceries vulnerable Parishioners order in Flanagans and leave them on their doorsteps ,no contact.

Ashamed?Well we should be.

Earlier this week there was a programme on RTE1 concerning the treatment of certain traveller families, which brought me back the years.
Many decades ago I  had responsibility for deciding on what should happen goods smuggled into the country and those who smuggled them in.
It was not a job I  liked.
Included in the remedies for smuggled goods was the seizure of the goods and the subsequent sale of them by the State.
On one occassion an assiduous Customs Officer had come across a smuggled caravan in which lived a traveller woman with a young child.
My permission to seize the caravan was sought.
I refused point blank and suffered much derision from certain colleagues as a consequence.
I  have no regrets.
I  lived for many years in Blanchardstown and its hinterland and was actually robbed by a young traveller I  was good to.
This is the constituency of Leo Varadaker  and Joan Burton ,a current head of Fine Gael and a former head of the Labour Party.
As far as memory serves Halting Bays for Travellers were sited as far away from the public gaze as possible ,adjacent to Mulhuddart Graveyard and aklongside the railway track in the butt end of Porterstown.
Out of sight and out of mind.
The programme above cited showed the totrure and persecution heaped upon individual families who had no where else to go and provided shelter by means of a caravan on public owned land.
What we saw was heaps of Council Officials, hired heavies and Police men and women
threatening to seize the caravans of men ,women and children uinless they moved on to nowhere.
NEEDLESS TO SAY NOT ONE OF THESE OFFICIALS WERE PREPARED TO MEET  THE CAMERA AND ATTEMPT TO JUSTIFY THEIR OBNOXIOUS ACTIONS.COUNTY MANAGERS ,COUNCIL OFFICIALS AND BAILIFFS WENT AND HID FROM PUBLIC VIEW.
Shame on them, shame on those hidden inhumane bullies who set these enforcers on these unfortunate people and hadn't the guts to explain their obnoxious activities to the programme makers and shame on us as a Nation for tolerating such hateful and inhumane treatment of fellow human beings.
Were you to treat dogs in a similar manner you would be prosexcuted for cruelty to animals.
No wonder Leo and Joan were punished by the electorate.
And the presence of so many Police to see to such evictions and seizures from the poorest of the poor gives the lie to the frequentlt cited excuse regarding the shortahge of police to tackle those who mutilate the youth of Ireland in the successful enterprise of covering the entire land with a covering of coke and a pklentitude of skunk and other health destroying drugs.
Let the Polis chase the drug dealers and stop wasting time on evictions such as witnessed on the programme.

My notion on how to Vote.

1.To vote in favour of a Party/individual that supports the murder of the living unborn is to approve the murder of those unborn children. Not mise.
2.I know an 80 year man who has a small farm, mostly rushes and who farms beef. His income is zilch.Guess what Regina'a Dept.gives him.
Would you believe E.25.00 PER WEEK.
aLWAYS REMEMBER DON'T BLAME THE MONKEY.bLAME THE ORGAN GRINDER.

Honoring the R.IC.,DMP and Black and Tans.

For nearly 800 years the Brirish Empire ruled Ireland soley by Right of conquest. That is they defeated us militarily and took possession of our country because they had a stronger army.
They treated us as slaves and hunted down Catholic priests like wolves.
They murdered St.Oliver Plunkett by hanging, drawing and quartering him.
Under the Penal laws Catholics were not allowed own land and as a result English landlords charged whatever rent they could extract from the impoverished Irish tenants.
During the Famine of  1847over a million Irish people died of hunger and disease.,while the best of food was being exported to England as rent.
Over another million emigrated out of hunger and this had the effect of reducing the population by 4 million in the next 30 years.
To maintain British law and order in a conquered and subjucataded land certain Irish took the Kings shilling and suppressed and evicted starving  people from their miserable homes.
These people do not deserve to be commemorated but cursed.
It is worth noting that some of  Gay Byrnes uncles and Joe Duffy's ancestors were in the British
Army.
This may help explain the bias Gay showed and the extreme dislike Joe shows against Catholics and Republicans.
One wonders  how many other RTE staffers are similarly bred and how this effects their output.
Certainly they sabotaged the Popes visit and have run the Catholic clergy from the Station, exulting only those so called Clergy who are at varyiance with Catholic teaching.

Death of Jack Devine Boyerstown.

Dunderry's G.AA.Club's favourite adopted grandfather Jack Devine passed over his well thumbed journals and pencils after a well documented life of reportage and activity for the Club for  well over a half century and after nearly a century of a well lived GAA and family life overall.
Jack was a founding member of a very good Boyerstown Club along with such luminaries as Peter Callaghan, father of such as Henry deceased ,Mickey, the late Peter deceased,Gerry and Oliver which were promising in their own right but who realized that were significant progress to be made they would be better off throwing their lot with an emerging Dunderry outfit at the time ,which was led by my uncle Tommy M c Cormack  in the mid 1960's.
And so it emerged and progressed ,that team going on to win an Internmediate Football Championship in the early 1970's.A team of Kings.
Although the minute books of the Club from then on have been mislaid I am sure the Jack then became and remained until his death on Christmas Eve a full executive member of the GAA Club.
I am sure he served in many executive positions over the decades but it will be mainly as a PRO Officer that  many will remember him.
Which of us have in our minds eyes a permanent memory of Billy Bligh practically air lifting Jack by the shoulder from gate to shelter across every conceivable pitch in Meath to afford Jack a prime view to every game involving Dunderry.
And woe betide anyone who tried to impede Billy's progress.
At every AGM Jack produced copies of reports on every Adult Dunderry GAA match  ,citing reams, players scorers and substitutes.
They were spot on always.
His talent was recognised not only at Club level but time out of knowledge he won Meath PRO of the Year and if I am not mistaken Sean Gael of the year also.
Those who lived in that part of the country where Jack lived have often informed me that when cars were scarce there were two families whoo were sure to give a lift ,the Devines and Dinny Brae, not a bad recommendation.
If you are well thought of by your neighbours it is always a good sign.
Similarly in his workplace.Jack was a rate collector,as far as I know he served the area patrolled by the St..Colmcille club around Laytown ans Bettystown.I sometimes heard him inquire about certain former clients from those areas, always with affection too I must say.
I served on the Executives with Jack for decades .Although we were not the closest we were straight with each other, which is fair enough..
Billy Bligh adored Jack and drove him everywhere ,every Sunday ,whether to follow Dunderry,Meath or anyother GAA match.
The story is still recounted of when in pursuit of an elusive GAA  match they deove into  league OF IRELAND SOCCER MATCH as a last resort.God's truth.
I have met his dignified wife Cella and only one of his daughters Mary but not as far as I  know Kathleen,,Patricia nor Anne.
Mary is as strong a Gael as her father ever was ,has swung the caman to advantage with Navan O  Mahony's with whom my daughter Mags now does likewise and I  understand she as as a teacher in the Primary School near the County Club  ,has produced several senior hurlers and footballers for Ratho to promote the games of the Gaels thereabouts.
His reportage in this life is over now and his mortal remains will be lying in Fitzsimons Funeral Home on St.Stephens DAY FROM 3.00 P.M TO 6.00 PM.THENCE TO ST.ULTANS CHURCH Bohermaam at 7'00 p.m.
Funeral Mass at 11.00 a.m.Friday with burial afterwards in Boyerstown.
On my behalf and of the Gaels of the Parish I OFFER MY SINCEREST CONDOLONCES TO HIS WIFE ,DAUGHETS AND ALL HIS RELATIVES,
Ar Dheis De go raibh a Hanam Dilis.

Archbishop Martin SHOULD UPHOLD Catholic Principles.

It's like this.Hitler is the most evil person ever to live.Next after the Devil.H e killed over 6 million Jews.
I  don't know how many human beings the abortionists have murdered, but it must run Hitlers number close.
Were Hitler to seek land from the Catholic Church to use it in the murder of even more Jews humanity would properly be repulsed.
Sanctity of human life being a core value  Christianity I  cannot see how any organization which calls itself Catholic can sell or other wise make available property which they know will be used for the murder of the innocents.
All these abortionists whose eyes are on stalks promoting Secular Murder ought get together and donate their own personal lands for this purpose.
It is time Archbishop and the Pope stood up for Catholic values and refuse the use of Catholic owned land or premises for premeditated killing.

FARMERS LAST STAND.

Unfortunately I was unable to join the modern day heroes who protested on behalf of rural Ireland and all rural dwellers in Dublin city today.
As one would expect these modern day Robins Hoods were largely derided by the usual sneering reporters who infest RTE by asking passers bye stupid and inane questions about how they felt about the delays they were experiencing and making no real effort to get to the core issues.
But this is what I  expect from these fools who think that the world begins and ends within  the confines of the two canals.
The matter can be summed up quite easily as follows|:-
IN 1983 a good continental calf could be bought at 180.00 PUNTS.which translates to E.250.00.Today it can be bought for the same price.
In 1983 a new car cost c.6,000.00 ,about 8,300.00 in Euros.Today it costs over 20,000.00 Euros if you can get it at that.
The bald fact is that we farmers produce food at far too low a price and should be charging and getting four or five times what we are getting at the moment.
These environmentalists and others who regard us as disposable parasites might have the sneers on the other sides of their faces were we to charge the true value of our produce.
They might find that the nonsensical prices they pay for their beloved mobiles and such like ought go on the basics like food.
I  think that we should go on strike and with hold food of all sorts until we get a fair deal.
We might be hung for a sheep as for a lamb.
These farmer haters who infest the media actually despise human brigs .You never see a human being living on the land in any of these programmers which promote animal  and plant welfare over human needs.
That Liz Bonin as sanitation piece on farmer husbandry shown on BBC this week is a case in point.
She wants us to be disposable human flotsam, like many excuses for reporters who infest the media.

The long and the short of it.

A number of my ancestors were very active in the War of Independence against the Brits and the blackguards in the Black and Tans in particular.
One guy was a particular thorn in their sides ,so much so that they put a price on his head and after several narrow escapes he was told by his superiors to get to America.
Off he went and returned during the Second World War ,when he immediately joined the Local Defence Forces ,a voluntary stand by back up force for the  regular army in the case of invasion.
Also known as the F.C.A.,this force was also known as the Free Clothes Association because you got boots,a uniform and most importantly a massive overcoat, complete with brass buttons
In those lean years more often than not these great coats supplemented the wafer thin blankets most people had to keep the bodies warm at night time.
In the early 1960's I had one to cover my bed during the summer holidays in Mc Cormacks of the Curragh Boreen.
It found its way to my home in Blanchardstown afterward and many's the morning I  woke up with the brass buttons stuck in my mouth.
Well my ancestor was put in charge of the Unit because of his prior experience during the War of Independence and they drilled regularly.
They got word of an inspection from a career Army man during the winter.
They all stripped the great coats from their beds and turned up ship shape and Bristol fashion for inspection and drilling exercises.
N o problems there.
Then he was asked what steps he would take were a force like his previous Brit adversaries to show up by surprise in the next field ."Damnable long ones"SAID HE.
In Dunderry the craic never ends.
On a more serious note the pillage of rural Ireland resulting from the destruction of the beef trade by an uncaring combination of F.G.and F.F. AND the Greens ,in particular ,aided and abetted by The Squire of Enniskerry ,who is determined make the culchies prisoners in their own homes ,is bubbling apace.
Probably the only reason Suckle farmers and dry stock farmers  were willing to subsidize their farming activities were because they were left at the end of the day with some valuable stock with which to pay their bills .
Now that the stock is worth about the same as they paid for it over two years ago ,after paying for feeding in the meantime they are rightly fecked,to put it mildly.
And do you think that the Politicos will tell Revenue to have mercy on these poor culchies.
You must be joking.
It is only about 150 years ago since upwards of a million people here died of starvation on a mainly vegeterian diet.
Are we stupid enough to re visit that vegatarian scenario by abolishing the beef and mutton option.
Seemingly so.

Under 21 Football.Drumbaragh/Kilmainham v Dunderry.

As in the Hurling Championship ,where three Parishes competed in the one match ,with us being one Parish and the other team comprising two Clubs,we put up a spirited show, before being beaten by 2-9 to 1-7,in Drumbaragh this morning.
For the record in the hurling last week the three teams on the pitch were Dunderry ,Rathmolyn and Boardsmill, with us Dunderry fielding on our own against the other two.I think we were beaten by three goals. Also a spirited showing ,where Ronan Brady in particular was like the man who tried his best to reverse the tide.
One thing I  will say is that in these circumstances we would need to be fielding all of our players.
In both the hurling and football we were deprived of of young Egington because of Rugby commitments and Dermot Kelly because of injury.Similarly in the Hurling.
In the football Tomas Conroy had to play in goal because Barry Brennan ,probably the best young goalie in Meath was unavailable.
His presence was missed further outfield.
When I  have more time available I  will write a more comprehensive set of reports.
I  have seen enough to be full of confidence for the future .
All the hard workers who put their shoulders to the perpetual wheel to keep the Games of the Gaels  in our Parish to the fore are to be commended.

Dunderry GAA END OF YEAR REPORT.

As far as I  know we are out of all competition ,with the possible exception of the Junior footballers ,who I  only saw twice. They are a tasty team.
We were beat in the final of the Intermediate Hurling, the quarter final of the Intermediate Football, the quarter final of the Junior Hurling and the Camogie had to endure a playoff to stay Senior.
Like the players I  am disappointed but I  suppose there are many Clubs with a far bigger population base who, even fielding combination teams, are much worse off.
It is only in my dotage that I  have come to realize that certain Clubs with far bigger population bases actually despise our ability to be so competitive and certain members of those Clubs  actually go to games  in the hope that we are beaten.
I am way behind in reportage on past games  but Janey Mack I  hope to put a halt to the gallop of some of these mouthpieces in Reports to come.
Before getting to those Reports I  recently experienced a view point I  had not considered before.
The Intermediate Hurling Final was played in a downpour. We lost it tamely enough, although in fairness two of our better players were badly injured early on.Jamie had his thumb broken in 5 places at the throw in  and O Shea had his shoulder dislocated.
Such is life without a wife or even with one.
Drink was drunk and tears were shed.
I was ensconced in the disabled stand at Parc Tailteann during the Hurling Final. And depressed at the end of the first half.
When who  came in only a true blue friend some of whose people played with our Club years ago.The same man is usually no great fan of sports and resides outside the Parish but ates his Sunday dinner for sure and maybe his every day dinner here with his sister who herself beautifies the Dunderry Church florally all of the time.
Remember it was pissing rain ,he hadn't seen the first half and we actually won the second half I  think.
I  was sitting next to the sister and mother of Masterson the Referee ,who is one of the best in the County and his sister and mother are the finest .
Our friend had a very unique view point on our lads."Well fair dues to them ,they turn up in the pissing rain and all weathers for training and matches and give their all for the games all of the time,as do their mentors and club officials".
"They are great lads entirely ,win lose or draw."
And so say all of us.

Brexit .Revenge for Skibeereen.

I  have no regard for the main political parties in this half country. With a few honourable exceptions they are part of an international murder machine and totally under Satan's wing.I  talk of the murder of our living unborn babies.
Having said that I  must congratulate all the Political Parties ,their combined leadership and the written and unwritten media and all the journalists who have contrived successfully to humiliate our neighbours in the U.K. over the nerve of their citizens to leave the E.U.
We have the bastards on their knees and tearing out each others throats, too good for them and about time too,
What all the Irish uprisings and the varied constitutional crusades failed to do.i.e.Revenge for all those centuries of oppression has been achieved in spades
We now have a situation where our radio and television commentators can call all the Brexiteers "liars"all of the time ,particularly Matt Cooper ,working for Sir Richard ,who repeatedly uses this appellation in relation to Boris Johnson.
Revenge in spades for caricaturing the Irish as Apes in the cartoons of the last century.

How sweet he must feel every time he opens his mouth and that is fairly often.
Let us not beat around the bush here.
The backstop was invented by our politicos to stymie the wishes of the British electorate.
We have been squealing about the sanctity of the Good Friday Agreement and the damage a solid border would do to that.Agreement.
Let us get to the essence of the AGREEMENT.
Essentially the Provos fought off the British Army, the British Police, the B SPECIALS,the Loyalists  and the Irish Army,Irish police and the judicial system ,fully aided by the Irish politicos of all denominations who  helped the Brits all they could.
When the war became deadlocked the protagonists set down their arms and the Good Friday  emerged.
Gerry Adams and Martin Mc Guinness persuaded the Prove fighters to decommission all their arms and this process was overseen by an international committee who oversaw the destruction of all the arms.
With all these ex fighters well into pension age and all the guns decommissioned ,just who is going to do all this fighting and resurrect the war  .
Certainly there are a small number within whose hearts the notion of a united Ireland remains strong,
but they are insignificant in numbers and effectiveness.
Unless King Leo brings a picture of an assault to the border.
The last true Irish patriot ,sharing a foreign parent was Dev., who had a Spanish father and who is and was ,in my opinion, the one and only true statesman that this Country has ever produced..
But even he ,brave fighter as he was, could not knock a chink in the United Kingdom   set up.
But Leo,with Simon as back up and Mickeen Martin in close support , have come up with the notion of the backstop ,gotten the total support of the 27 E.U. AStates and reduced the U.K.to a bunch of blithering idiots ,pitching Parliament against the people and the  Judiciary against the Government.
They have turned brother against  brother and sister against brother  and with the bitter and resentful Scots hovering on the sidelines spraying hatred and bile at every opportunity have created the opportunity to splinter the Kingdom.
Yes indeed our Politicos are playing a blinder and are giving it to the Brits up the arse.
Take a bow ,lads and lassies.
That the States of Europe are ganging up on the Brits and hungry for its destruction is no surprise.
The AXIS powers of Germany .Italy ,Romania were stymied by the Brits and without the intervention of the U.K we would now have a German Europe. This too is their revenge.
The remainder of the E.U.States either rolled out the red carpet to Hitler ,or like the French, didn't put up enough fight to burst a paper bag.
The descendants of   those Brits whose ancestors gave their lives to ensure freedom in Europe  and enabled the setting of the E.U.itself ,must be totally humiliated by how soon the peoples who they fought and died for in droves ,have chosen to now shite on them from on high.
Some of these Luxembourg mouthpieces  who take joy in humiliating the Brits are particularly short in memory .I  cannot remember even one fighter from this country.
A I said at the start All the politicians of this half country are well entitled to rub their hands in joy at the destruction and humiliation they have heaped on the U.k.
Now is our chance to keep them down for the next thousand years.
By the way I  don't believe any of this stuff and I  think Leo et all better pull their horns in before they put us in the shit entirely.
I have loads of solutions but a probable runner would be to turn the entire Island into a Duty Free Zone..

Dunderry v Donaghmore/Ashbourne IHC 30/8/2019

This match was played on a grand summers evening in Ratho.
To stay in contention we had to win it,not a foregone conclusion as our form to date was patchy,to say the least.
I  had recently been at Ratho on the way back from Croker,as part of a tour paid for by the GAA for auld Gaels like myself deemed worthy enough to get the treat of the visit.
We were made more than welcome then.

The match was referred by one of the Donoghues from Kiltale. This man and his other siblings have swung the caman at the highest level at both Club and County level ,so they well know what is within the rules and what is not.
And so it went.
He was fair and consistent.
We lined out as follows:-

                                                          Mickey Dowdall.

Fitzie                                                  Feeney                                                   Wright

Bunny                                                 Peanut                                                    Fear na Gcaorach
                                            O laoghaire                      Geordie

Timber Og                                         Lukie                                                     O Seaghda

Alex                                                   Bomber                                                 Timber oG A Do.

There is a footpath about 6 inches up from the surrounding ground and maybe 6 feet across to the fence surrounding the pitch.I  parked at the edge of this path ,with the front of my car facing the pitch.I  used the bonnet of the car to rest my jotter so that I  could annote the various happenings.
We started well with  Bomber shaking the onion bag with a class goal, much to his father's and George's delight. The lead was short lived as nearly immediately afterwards they did the same on us..
They have some fine players
But the returning Lukie was easing into gear and scored a brace of points with ease. They pulled one back.It was shaping up for a good contest.
Then Alex was felled in a tackle and went down for treatment just in front of where I  was standing.A group of about 6 male Donaghmore supporters were standing  beside me and one,at least of that group started to sneer and jeer at Alex ,implying he was faking it.
Alex is a bundle of courage and does not do this sort of stuff.
I  have played hundreds of hurling matches in two counties in my lifetime and the only time I  have heard such knavish and cowardly behaviour was in Ratho that evening.I  made my feelings known to this mob,to little avail.
I don't know them but do know full well that those who involved themselves in this behaviour  know as little about hurling and the ethos of the GAA as my asshole knows about shooting snipe.
The nearest I  have seen in Meath to such behaviour was when I  saw a supposed fully mature Gael sneer at a school boy as he was about to take a sideline puck from about two yards distance.
In quick succession ,Geordie,Donnagh,Jamie and O  Shea split the posts from play,
Jamie then pointed well a long distance free before they pulled back a point.
Bomber took a brace of points ,driving his auld lad into ecstasy .Jamie took a long range free and not to be outdone by Bomber Lukie reeled of two minors from play.Jamie pointed another free and Alex gave the best possible answer to his critics by landing a great goal.
They pulled back a point from play to leave the half time score 2-13 to 1-3 in our favour.
The scoreline flattered us somewhat as Donaghmore had some fine players but not enough.
Lukie and Bomber score the first and second points of the second half before they scored a minor.
They had well shot their bolt and we rattled of score after score via-
Luki 0-1
Peabut 0-1
Lukie1-1
Jamie 0-1
Adam Kelly 0-1
Jamie 0-3.
The final score was Dunderry 3-22.Donaghmore 2-5.
Towards the end of the match one of the Donaghmore forwards went around the pitch ,behind the Referees back, swinging his hurley at every Dunderry player he encountered ,trying to provoke a fight in my opinion.
Anybody my side of the pitch could see it and were stunned.

Rural Ireland on its belly.

I came to live in Dunderry in 1986.It was thriving then. The two pubs were flying as was the local shop.
The local GAA Club was going well. There were myriad small businesses around the place giving reasonable employment.
Above in Robinstown there was a thriving pub ,a Post Office and a grocery shop.
Now ,in deference to the many businesses that ceased to exist since then,I  will not name them.
Any person who lived through those  times will be able to list the disappeared businesses. And the disappeared people. They are all over the globe.
There is no pub in Robinstown now. There is no Post Office in Robinstown now. There is no shop in Robinstown now. There is no shop in Kilbride now.
Those people who chose to stay and hold their ground have been and are being relentlessly pursued by Banks who destroyed the economy by loaning excessive amounts to people who couldn't afford the repayments,by State authorities who drive them to suicide and worse in pursuit of taxes they cannot pay and by an uncaring Social Welfare which places them on levels of subsistence that wouldn't sustain a mangy cat.
In 1986 the wisdom was that a yard of a publican's counter was worth a hundred acres of land.
The pubs of rural Ireland are fucked now and those trying to keep them going are modern day heroes.
Drink driving laws enacted by a self righteous elite who have at their fingertips severely subsidized transport options have pontificated from their perches on what the yokels in the country cannot  do.
In Dunderry there is not,nor has never been any form of public transport.
Gardai who used hide in the ditches to catch the guys brave enough to drive on unlit roads to get home with a few on board have now resumed their former activities, now that those of their members who forged  2 million non existent breathalyser tests have time on their hands..
The pubs are deserted most nights as people are terrified to go out.
Of course when you are robbed the culprits are never found.
I  used have a good regard for the medical profession .They stood way above us mere mortals in their unending self righteousness so you would have some regard when the vehemently deplored smoking.
Now some of their members  are murdering the living unborn.
Personally I  would rather take a chance on smoking than being killed before I  had chance to draw even one  breath
In the full knowledge that Hitlers Death Camps were manned and wommaned by doctors, who by a flick of their wrists decided on instant death by  gassing or more prolonged death by starvation, brutality or torture, the penny has eventually dropped about elements of this profession.
Even today Irish medics will not testify about negligence of their colleagues and claimants have to either go abroad for expert witnesses  ,the expense of which is prohibitive for ordinary litigants.
Now ,if you want to register with a new doctor there is a severe waiting list.People are dying and will die as a result.
If you want to build a house there are so many levies and rules to be surmounted that you would lose the will to live before permission came through.
Before the Famine of 1845 8 million people subsisted here Are there 6 million now.
How come with all these advances in technology and so forth that we cannot house all our people and that over 10,000 are homeless. In the countryside thousands are having their homes repossessed, but they are utterly helpless to help themselves.
The most prolific businesses in rural Ireland is farming.
Small beef farmers, and by this I  mean farmers with under 50 acres who either farm suckler cows or dry stock are losing money hand over fist for decades and have been subsidizing the losses by holding down off farm incomes.
They art regulated in their farming activities up to their oxters by both E.U.AND Irish regulations AND LAWS and live in a state of constant fear of the Dept.of Agriculture, who have the powers to put them under by cutting off their subsidies and bankrupting them in effect.
Banks are of no help whatsoever and the State bodies do all in their power to put them out of business.
Rural farmers are living hand to mouth.
Every employee in this State has the right to strike for an increase in their wages and the State imposes minimum wage limits on all employers
Farmers and other self employed  under competition law have no right to unite  to get a higher price.
This is a load of bollix and a reason why we ought take a leaf from the book of the Brits and tell the EU where to stuff it.
What are farmers supposed to do?
Leave the Thistles,Docks and Bonan Buis take over their fields,as they have the roadsides.
Our ancestors gave their lives for these fields and we are not going to let them slip from our hands in  order to provide  cheap food for Europe and destroy ourselves by working for slave returns.
An old guy I know said that if you had a son or daughter you hated you should give him a 40 acre farm on condition that he farmed it exclusively and rear a  family on it.
Guaranteed to drive him or her to suicide.
Goodman was saved by the then Government by the enactment into law of the Examinership legislation.
He was and is a financial heavyweight.
Farmers and their families are on their knees and at their wits ends.
They are expected to rollover and wither and die.
The Government, the Beef processors ,the Courts and the judges speak uno voce in humiliating and putting down those decent farmer protesters whose identity they can establish in every way their law allows.
This is no wonder as they are all loaded and share a commonality of origin, with a huge crossover between the political and judicial and legal systems.
The existing farmer organizations are so far up the holes of the Establishment that they have long ceased to represent the interest of the small guys.
This is why they have been cast aside and this is why the ordinary decent farmers will nor  back down .
Their backs are to the wall. This is their last stand and actually the last stand of all of rural Ireland.
Support them and yourselves O  ye of the land.
