Dunderry draw from c.500 houses. The combination opposition have the pick of all houses from the greater Navan area as far as Kingscourt and all parishes in between.David v Goliath.
The smallest combination man dwarfed our biggest boy.It was young and skillful men versus smaller and physically weaker, but game to the last puck , garsuns/
I know the huge effort that has been put into juvenile hurling over the years by dedicated and inventive coaches.I was one myself for yonks.
I'd say Timber Leavy ,who was prowling the line with intent on Wednesday night in the Showgrounds has put in more than most this last decade Reminded me of a younger Coady.
This was a total mismatch if ever there was one.
Hard to see how the game of hurling is promoted by such a travesty.
The organising committee needs to examine its conscience and apply some modicum of real competition to its competing teams.
I;d say that there are dozens of soccer teams in this age group from Navan to Kingscourt and all areas in between .This sort of mismatch is one of many reasons why. This is not any incentive to our guys to keep at promoting the game.
Nor can it be good for the kids involved.
Many will marvel at the replay of the Hurling All Ireland this coming weekend.
Unless the Authorities try and reintroduce the ancient game across vast swathes of Meath it will become a distant memory there in a few generations.
High time to pull the finger out at County and Provincial level.

These dedicated Dunderry boys , men and women will persevere and keep the flag flying .
