Dunderry's contribution to Meath Kildare Classic.

Just finished watching the Match on the television. It was a powerful game and only the kick of a ball seperated the teams.Plenty of" only ifs".
It was noticable that there were huge swathes of empty terraces at the game.Whether this was due to over officious health and safety precautions or underselling of the allocated tickets remains to be seen.
What I wish to concentrate on is the Dunderry connection to the occassion.
Firstly Mandy Dowd sang the National Anthem before the game. She is a daughter of the famous Dunderry man Tommy who did so much as a player and selector for both Club and County and is a repeat of her magnificient performance of the same Anthem which she sang at the official opening of the Dunderry Dressing rooms  in 2008 when Meath played Mayo.
Secondly Stephen Bray is the son of a Dunderry man who gave great service to the Club. Our loss is Navan's gain.
The Dunderry under 12 football team provided the half time entertainment.
No doubt Tommy Nally was stewarding as he has done for yonks.
And finally Barry Callaghan another former Dunderry and Meath player, selector and current club intermediate football manager, walked from the selector's job when Graham Geraghty was recalled to the panel recently.
Not bad for a rural backwater?
