Bucklepping

We own a few cattle, calves, cows and one only bull. They have a goodish life. And they have a way of letting you know what's on their mind.
Its been   good year so far for cattle until two weeks ago.The grass was growing well into November and the weather was clement and the rainfall was scarce.
Plenty of grass to ate and happy cattle.
Then the rain came and boy did it rain. The Clady runs through our land and it was swollen to the top of its 20 feet depth. And then some.A fair bit of the land was waterlogged and the grazing thus restricted. But the cattle had free access to a shed full of good barley straw and they sated themselves on the grass and the straw as they desired.
And then a touch of frost,
The cattle know where the hay is stored and of a sudden they congregated at the gate outside the hay shed looking mournfully over the gate at the hay.
I got the message and brought three bales of sweet hay from the hay shed  to the field where they are foddered for the time being.
They followed the tractor single file until we reached the field and then still single file they danced past the tractor in delight bucklepping as they passed by and kicking their heels into the air with delight.Bit like the bull with rider on board as he is released from the schute in the Rodeo movies if you can visualise that.
Filled my heart with wonder.
Cattle definitely feel delight and don't let anyone tell you different.
