Dunderry v Ballinabrackey u 21 B FC Semifinal 10/11/12.

My uncles were great men and fair men.Any attempt at bragging, especially by one of them to the others was ruthlessly cut down, especially if made in public. The better the put down the more the craic. One once bragged that he held the Red Meehan scoreless in a football match, the Red being a local and national legend. The put down was that he was an eejit,he wasn't marking the Red at all,but his brother ,who was useless.
This is the fourth time my Internet connectivity has broken off and I have a pain in my bollix losing tract ,The signal here is worse than brutal.
Here we go again.
Well probably the Red's brother was brilliant also, but you get the drift.Don't ever set yourself up for a fall.
Minogue did.He face booked that he would outplay Damian Carroll ,Ballinabrackey's county player and believe it or not he did.
Trim was in good nick with a warm sun dispelling the underlying cold as the following team fielded.

                                                            Patterson

Dempsey                                                                                                 Carty

Kenneally  J.P                                  Wright                                            Garry

                            Minogue                                        Dempsey L.

Martyn                                                Farrell                                          Daly

                          Coogan                                                Kenneally P.

O Shea had the flu and Maguire was injured. And we had a newly bibbed first aid woman.
Eamon Barry refereed .
The combined football nous of Dunderry ,Trim and Moynalty would meet their sternest test yet as Dowd,Fay and Govern marshaled their troops to try and reverse the result of last year's final.

The teams tested each other. We scored they drew level.we scored they drew level. Two points each.
Then a pattern emerged.Minogue and Dempsey were lording midfield.Anything they didn't catch they broke and we gathered. The backs stuck like limpets and the uncanny understanding that a team who plays together for a good while came to the fore.Much went through Dally who sprayed the ball to his team mates with radar accuracy. At least one foot pass was inch perfect. We were ON a roll and punished them well, not an easy thing to do.Unselfishly our score mounted. We got points .We got a goal.Kenneally was lethal and an injured Coogan was laser accurate. The ball was laid on for them and they are well fit to make it count and they did.
Barry was o.k and  trying to make a match of it maybe gave the benefit of the doubt to the Border men once or twice .One free he gave didn't draw universal approval and he moved it closer to goal. The free taker threw the ball to the ref.and a spectator said what the feck was that for.And another said "He wants the ref.to take the free as well".Still a bit of wit around.
Dempsey L.picked up a yellow for a tackle reminiscent of his uncle Martin's against Kildalkey in a SHC final years ago.More awkward than anything else, he is not malicious.
He took it in his stride and delivered an inch perfect pass to Kenneally which developed into the goal.
At half time we lead 1-8 to 0-5.
Even against the wind and a slight hill we look good. They need a good second half start. We score a minor from a Kenneally P ground free.He is getting hit harder, legitimately. He copes. The border goalie produces some miracle saves. We defend like Donegal and don't crack.Minogue has arms like an octopus and dominates his man.Coogan kicks a fifty. They score a goal.1-10 to 1-5.They can't capitalise and only add one more point in the remaining thirteen minutes.Shane Mooney comes on and scores later,Jordan Martyn limping off.
Mooney gets his first ever yellow.
Keenan comes on.
We win 1-14 to 1-6 .Not really tested.
Our Troika have a dilemma for the final.Do they change a winning team.
