Last week Sean O Rourke interviewed Michaael Noonan the Minister for Finance on his radio show on RTE 1 midweek.
He had the temerity to bring up the Minister's handling of how a construction firm was apparently sold so cheaply by NAMA .a State creature, to connections of Dennis O Brien,a Portuguese resident citizen ,who has huge commercial interests in Ireland and indeed worldwide.
As part of his very reasonable questioning of the Minister he asked why it was necessary to not only raise the issue by Parliamentary Question but also seek the same information by way of enquiry under Freedom of Information before anything approaching the truth was forthcoming.
In this he was echoing a comment made by Justice Hamilton during the Beef Tribunal who made a similar observation when concluding that if the whole truth were told in response to P.Q.s expensive Tribunals might well be avoided.
Well talking about turning Turk.
When O Rourke threw in a remark about his Minister of Justice days.Noonan turned as nasty ,hectoring and insulting as a gurrier .
Perhaps power has gone to these guys heads and given this sort of example it is no wonder that proponents of the "Yes "side in the upcoming plebiscite on the definition of the family take a similar attitude towards proponents on the "No"vote,as I have learned from my hesitant forays on (anti ) social media on the issue.
