Din 2 F.League .28/01/2018 .Dunderry 3-6.Trim 1-11.

This was our first match of 2018,as far as I know.We have been training a while.Phil.Fay Jnr.is concentrating on the Meath Ladies Football, where his daughters are involved and has quit as a selector .His place is taken by Gary Newman as far  as I know.Ted is still Manager and our Evan,Lee Mulligan and Declan Mahon are also selectors.
I think that a fourth Garry,Michael  ,a son of the Bear's togged out as a sub today.T.J.,  Martin and Alan  have given full service to us before emigrating.Martiin is back  but the other pair are still abroad .Wouldn't it be great to see all four together again in the one Dundeery Team.
Played in Trim this morning on a great pitch there was a strong wind into which we played in the first half.
Only three of the last Senior Team Team to play in 2005 are on the present Panel.ie.Davy Jennings,Davy Mac and Kevin Bruton. There are four e new graduates to the Panel ,Ronan Brady ,Dermot Kelly Shane Heffernan and Jamie Leavy..Ronan is John's son,Diarmuid is Sean's son,Jamie is Timber's son and Shane is the son of  a decent Limerick man ,who has four of them, one bigger than the other.
It is noticeable that the new guys are all strapping guys well over six feet tall.
Our senior County Football panellists,Conor Dempsey,Paddy Kenneally and Luke Martin were unable to play ,it was rumoured ,because of County commitments and injury .Darren Callaghan is rumoured to have retired.
Stephen Coogan is Captain and uniquely,Hurling Captain also.
Trim too were short 4 or 5 players due to County committments.
Team was
                                                      Jennings
A.Newman                                    Davy Mac.                     A.Feeney.

Oisin Martin.                                   O.Dempsey                  M.Kane.

                                            L.Dempsey             C.O.Shea.
R.Brady                                           Bomber Farrell.            Gooch Daly.

A,Watters                                        S.Coogan                      D.Kelly.
Used during the game also were Shane Heffernan, and Jamie Leavy and a full list of the other subs are not yet to hand .
There was a fair bite in the game from the first whistle and plenty of short inter passing. We are fairly adept at this, probably a bit wiser than Trim at it.
Trim scored the first point but  a surge of speed by Kane followed by some slick inter passing ended with Liamo rattling the onion bag.
And then Coogan repeated the dose.Looking good and against the gale too.
But WE died and Trim took over, scoring 7 points in succession without reply before the half time whistle shrilled
Half Time Us.2-0.Them 0-8.
O Shea was our best in the first half I thought, manning the breaches manfully. He is as strong as a young ass.
With the wind in our backs I thought we ought shade it in the second half.
Trim opened with an early point, but Googan with a free and Liamo with another  goal  and a point put us in the lead again.
Trim pulled back with another point before Kane and Coogan increased our lead with minors.Trim score another minor before another brace of points by Coogan from  a free and a fifty put us well ahead but Trim refused to die bulging the net from play.
That left us a point up as Trim laid siege to our goal but our backs held out tenaciously to keep the lead in a tense final five minutes.
We won by 3-6 to 1-11 .
Our cause was greatly helped by Trim calling the influential Frankie Murphy ashore ,the one move you would make to help us to victory. Our mentors would hardly be so unwise.Inexplicable.
There was little between the teams,it was a good game overall and our debutantes did well.No fears there. Our substitutions were on the ball and this was probably the deciding factor in our win.
A fair display all round I thought.
When all our players are available for selection our mentors will have their work cut out.Nice problem to have.
That two intermediate teams could have 6 or 7 players on the County panel is extraordinary in my humble view.Maybe a good omen for both Clubs.
Sub's bench.J.Leavy,S.Heffernan,Jack Brady,M.Garry,Mick Garry,Jack Dempsey,Tomas Conroy,Kevin Bruton,Garrett Dooley,Dec.Mahon.
