His death did not surprise Mickey Daly from Dunderry. He knew for sure it was imminent. As a friend of long standing I am devastated.
Last November he gave me the low down on his health. He had cancer and after consideration had decided to meet it head on without the application of chemo and radiotherapy. He has seen too much suffering caused by these to no avail.
This brave, principled and affable man died as he lived ,without fear nor fanfare.
He once said to me after burying a young grandaughter who died in a freak accident that he had climbed many hills in his lifetime but didn't know whether he could climb that one.
He survived that one ,greatly diminished.
The present one was a step too far.
Maghera's loss was Dunderry's gain.Dunderry's loss is Heaven's gain.
His presence graced the fields ,streets and streams of Dundrry, particularly the GAA Club where he and all his sons were life members.
Reposing in his home today Thursday 4.00 to 8.00 p.m.and Funeral Mass tomorrow at Noon in Dunderry.
To his wife ,children and grandchildren ,wide circle of in laws and massive circle of friends we offer our condolences.
Ar dheis De go raibh a a hANAM Dilis.
